History of Open Door Church
Open Door Church began as a small gathering of believers hungry to hear and follow God’s voice. What started as a simple act of faith has become a growing family learning to walk through every door God opens.
“When God opens a door, no one can shut it.” — Revelation 3:7–8
A Call to Plant
After many years serving as Pastor of the historic Elim Baptist Church in Augusta, Georgia, Pastor George C. Miller III sensed the Lord’s leading to plant a new work in the suburbs— an area that desperately needed what the Millers could bring: biblical preaching, family connection, and authentic worship. It also needed a fresh expression of godly leadership and family life that reflected both spiritual depth and cultural relevance. With the full blessing of Elim’s leadership, the church plant moved forward in faith.
A Season of Listening
Founded by Pastors George and Cheri Miller, the ministry walked through a quiet season under the name Compassionate Life Church, marked by prayer, stillness, and rediscovery. In that time, the Lord spoke a clarifying word: “I open and shut the doors in your life.” That message reshaped the vision and renewed the mission.
Prayer & Reset: A deliberate pause to listen, refine, and realign with God’s purposes.
Clarified Vision: Help people walk through every door God opens—at home, at work, in community.
Rebirth & Today
In 2024, the name Open Door Church was embraced to reflect that calling. Today the church grows with authenticity, service, and expectation—reaching families, mentoring leaders, and proclaiming Christ with grace and truth.
Our Mission: To walk through every door God opens—and to help others do the same.
